The PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana is a government initiative launched in 2024 to promote rooftop solar installations across India. Aiming to empower 1 crore households, the scheme provides subsidies and facilitates the installation of solar panels, enabling families to generate their own electricity and reduce their power bills.

Subsidy Support

₹30,000 per kW for systems up to 2 kW

₹18,000 per kW for additional capacity beyond 2 kW, up to 3 kW
(Maximum subsidy: ₹78,000)
Free Electricity
Households can receive up to 300 units of free electricity per month.
Financial Assistance
Beneficiaries are eligible for bank loans at concessional rates.
Direct Benefit Transfer
Subsidy amounts are directly credited to the beneficiary’s bank account within 30 days of installation.
Eligibility Criteria
Must be an Indian citizen.
Should own a legal residential property with a suitable rooftop.
Must have a valid electricity connection.
Should not have previously availed any other solar panel subsidy from the government.
